Don't Piss Off Your Pets

If you’re a pet owner, you know that sometimes we love our lil fur babies more than we love other people. And why wouldn’t we? They’re loyal, adorable, and make for the best Instagram content. Which is why we’ve gotta talk about how secondhand smoke affects our pets.

Cats and dogs whose owners smoke are 2x as likely to get cancer, and secondhand smoke can also cause cancer in pet birds. And we’re not just talking about lighting up in your living room -- though, that’s rough on pets, too. According to the FDA, pets can ingest tobacco smoke residue by licking their owner’s hair, skin, and clothes. So even if you’re not smoking inside of your home, toxins from thirdhand smoke can still affect your pets’ health.
