You guys did it! With over 5,300 signatures on our petition asking Walgreens to take tobacco off its shelves, we were able to send a message that tobacco -- the leading cause of preventable death and the only consumer item that can kill people when used as intended -- does not belong in pharmacies.
We protested outside Walgreens’ annual shareholders meeting in NYC before two of our reps actually went inside the meeting and told the Walgreens CEO that 5,321 people agreed tobacco doesn’t belong in pharmacies.
We know your voices were heard. And we’re hoping Walgreens will take a step toward becoming a tobacco-free pharmacy -- just like CVS, Target Pharmacy, and Wegmans.
Let’s keep reminding them that tobacco doesn’t belong in a store that provides health services.
